Exterior - The Red Winnebago "W" & Stripe Are On...

The body is now back to the original white with red accent striping
As the Winnebago Company intended back in 1964...
The rear end.
The "Thousand Trails" Decal & Bumper Sticker were masked off & preserved.
Thousand Trails hasn't been around for a while either.
Curb - Side
Street - Side
The wheels were sandblasted and painted in the body color also.
The sad little door - still kind of sad...but better than it was...
The metal "Winnebago" Emblem at front and rear are on...
now to get the lights all on.

Close up of the red Winnebago stripe - the orange peel look is acheived by applying three coats, and stippling between each one. This red is bullet-proof.

Exterior Bodywork and Paint

Getting the Winnebago Ready For Primer
White Primer
For some strange reason, we thought this yellow might look nice...
It was a nice yellow, but it just wasn't right for the Winnebago...
it needed to have the original white and red color scheme
~SO~

We decided this would be the perfect opportunity to fill some of the
larger rock dings in the aluminum
Bondo, sanded, primed....
Ditto
Ouch
This was the biggie - it would have fit under a round reflector, it looks MUCH larger on a close up pic!
Bondo
Sanding the Bondo
More Sanding...and then some hand sanding....and then...
Primer!
And here we are, back to the original gloss white!
This is the big Bondo area - I think it turned out pretty darned good.

More White
Even More White...
Next time in pictures we will be masking off for the original red accent stripes and the Winnebago "W".
It will be a while, this baby needs to cure...

C.M. Russell
Western Print
"The Jerk Line"
Installed as Backsplash Above The Stand Alone Cabinet

This CM Russell Print is Vintage - and was (as found) mounted on 1/4" thick hardboard. I purchased it years ago in it's original frame at a local Goodwill.
Well, I Finally found the PERFECT use for it!

It was cut down a bit to size, and the same amber shellac that was used on the interior was applied. The cowboy print was then installed and trimmed out to be used as a backsplash over the single cabinet.

It should withstand just about anything - with the amount of shellac on it protecting it!  It is a vintage print however, and as such it does have a scratch or two under the shellac.  Not noticable, and it just serves to make it even more authentic in my opinion.  I love it - and think it is one of the top five coolest things about the new interior of this little Western Winnie!
